queer new world
'Queer New World' is a new project that melds Jake's years of experience performing in theatre, cabaret and clubs to explore gender, sexuality and identity from a queer perspective. It asks 'What does it mean to be queer in Britain today?'
For a sense of the project, and Jake's performance and choreographic work, please see the gallery opposite and the performance reel below. Included below are also extracts from reviews of Jake's role in SHUT DOWN by Vincent Dance Theatre (2017-19).

Josephine Leask, DanceTabs
His solo in which he performs a range of gender identities is breathtakingly delicate, fluid and convincingly real and suggests a creative 'third' way of being a man, a blend of male and female.
Rohanne Udall, Exeunt
Jake Evans takes centre stage, tenderly removing his clothes to reveal lace knickers and a satin slip [...] Each moment has an inching vulnerability - a searching sensuousness and determined sense of potential - feeling for a way of being and dancing.
Natalie Russett, A Younger Theatre
The exposure of the transgendered character, performed by Jake Evans, is done very tastefully and performed with sensitivity and emotion.
